Schüler des Ffter Gymnasiums. Studium der Rechte in Jena. Seit 1778 Advokat in Ffm. Promotion in Gießen. Seit 1789 Stadtschreiber mit dem Titel eines Kanzleirats. Seit 1792 Syndikus. Unter Dalberg Appellationsgerichtsrat, kehrte B. 1813 in seine frühere Stellung als Syndikus (seit 1816 Syndicus primus) zurück. Von 1824 bis 1833 Gerichtsschultheiß und Appellationsgerichtspräsident in Ffm.
1815 Präsident der Kommission für die Konstitutionsergänzungsakte, die Verfassung der Freien Stadt Ffm., an deren Erarbeitung B. zusammen mit Ludwig Daniel Jassoy wesentlich beteiligt war. Seit 1816 Senator und Schöffe. 1821 Älterer Bürgermeister.
